The traffic police said it will deploy even its office staff -- 400 in number -- along with 3000 traffic police personnel on the roads to ease the traffic situation in Delhi, a report in The Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying.
Joint Commissioner of Traffic Garima Bhatnagar was quoted as saying that the traffic jams will begin on Tuesday and are expected to continue till the festival of Bhai Dooj, will falls on Saturday (October 21).
The senior traffic police official said that cranes would be deployed at all imporant points for the removal of vehicles that broke down. Motorcycle patrols will also be deployed to
reach the sources of congestion, she added.
The traffic police has also requested people to use public transport, especially the metro, and use car pools. It says people must be prepared that there will be traffic jams and that market places will be heavily crowed, and has asked them to plan their trip accordingly.
The traffic police has also asked people to check traffic police’s social media accounts for advisories before stepping out.
