
An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 hit 111-kilometre northeast of Thang in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Some tremors were also felt in the Kashmir valley.
The epicentre of the quake was at the India-China border in Ladakh.
"The earthquake of 5.4 magnitudes on the Richter Scale was recorded at 4:59 am today. The epicentre of the earthquake was at a depth of 35 km near the Jammu and Kashmir-Xingjian border in the state's Ladakh region," a meteorological (MeT) department official said.
There was no immediate report of any injury or destruction in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
A Strong earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale was also felt in Delhi NCR on Wednesday evening.
