Kiren Rijiju, former earth sciences minister, finds place in Modi 3.0 Cabinet
Kiren Rijiju
BJP leader Kiren Rijiju took the oath of office at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on Sunday (June 9) to serve as a Union Cabinet Minister in the NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rijiju was born on 19 November 1971 in Nakhu near Nafra in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh in India. He is the son of Rinchin Kharu and Chirai Rijiju.
His father was the first Protem Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh who administered the oath to the members of the first state legislative assembly. He was a good athlete in his college days and is often seen playing football and badminton.
The recent general elections saw Rijiju win a fourth term as a member of the Lok Sabha for Arunachal West. He has served as Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge), Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Minister of State for Home Affairs, and Minister of Law and Justice. His tenure as Law Minister was full of controversies. On 18 May 2023, he was given charge of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

The outgoing government's Earth Sciences Minister, Rijiju, stated in a post on X, "I will take oath as Cabinet Minister around 7.30 pm on June 9, 2024."
“Thank you Arunachal Pradesh, @narendramodi Ji, @BJP4India and people of India. I will serve the nation with greater zeal and devotion,” he said.
