Everything is on CCTV, police were mute spectators: Ashish Khetan on assault on Delhi Chief Secretary

A day afterthe alleged assault on Delhi Chief SecretaryAnshu Prakash, AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal has said that they have lodged a complaint with the SC/ST Commission against the (alleged) casteist comments made by him.

He added "We had asked him about an area where peoplewere not getting basic facilities like medicine, the Chief Secretarysuddenly shouted 'maine Daliton ki thekedaari nahi le rakhi hai', his temper was high. He said 'you are not fit to be MLA, I will only reply to LG".

While the alleged victim of the assault, Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash has also issued a complaint letter to the police over the incident.

The President of the Delhi Administrative Subordinate Services has said that they will not resume work until an action is taken. He also said to take out a candle march at Rajghat in protest.

Ashish Khetan from the Aam Aadmi Party has said that everything is on the CCTV camera and will be clear after examining it.

He said "It was a riot like situation, a crowd had gathered who became violent and even raised slogans, we don't know who they were. Everything is on CCTV, will be clear from it. Police were mute spectators."

The former chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dikshit called the assault "shameful".

She said "Sad situation when the Chief Secretaryis being manhandled by MLAs, it is totally unacceptable and very very wrong, makes it worse if the CM was present there. CM himself has been a civil servant, did he ever do this? Or what if this happened to him?

Hitting out at the Delhi Chief Minister, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra has asked for the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal.

He said "Does such CM have the right to stay on his post? Such CM has no moral responsibility to stay on the post. He must resign immediately

Calling the incident as constitutional crises he added "BJP condemns this incident. A constitutional crisis looms over Delhi. First time we saw a Chief Secretarybeing assaulted on the directions of a CM. AAP & anarchy have become synonymous. It has no relations with Constitution."

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed his disappointments over the issue. He said "I am deeply pained by the happenings involving the Chief Secretary of the Delhi Government. The civil servants should be allowed to work with dignity and without fear".

The IAS Association condemned the physical assault on Chief Secretary.

The Association said "The appalling and shocking physical assault meted out to the Head of the Administration of Delhi, in the form of blows on the head, amounting to threat to life and physical safety, is deplorable"

It added, "The Associations strongly feel that above incident amounts to functional crisis and breakdown of governance and earnestly implore the Hon’ble Lt. Governor and the Government of India to take expeditious action against the perpetrators of the unfortunate incident".

Speaking on the matter Congress leader Ajay Maken has said that the Delhi CM should immediately meet the LG.

He said "It will be a very dangerous situation if Delhi goes towards administrative paralysis. LG should immediately meet Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Confidence should be restored among administrative officers".

A massive political firestorm erupted over Delhi on Tuesday after the Chief Secretary,Anshu Prakash, alleged that he had been assaulted by AAP MLAs at the chief minister's residence.

The Aam Aadmi Party has called Anshu Prakash's allegation "ludicrous", adding that he was acting on the BJP's behest.

The alleged attack on Prakash took place on Monday night, with Prakash saying he had been physically assaulted by two AAP MLAs during a meeting at the chief minister's residence.He added that he was manhandled in front of Kejriwal.

AAP, in turn, said Prakash had "used bad language" with the MLAs.
