Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday announced that special measures will be implemented to tackle the rising pollution levels in Delhi and it's adjoining regions.

The budget focused on the problems people are suffering from the pollution and assured to provide ways to manage crop residue, a major reason behind the rising level of pollution.

"Air Pollution in Delhi NCR is a cause for concern, special scheme will be implemented to support Govts of Haryana, Punjab,UP and Delhi NCT to address it and subsidize machinery for management of crop residue."

Jaitley is presenting the last full budget of NDA government.

Earlier, a high-level task force headed by Nripendra Misra, principal secretary to the Prime Minister, released a 12-point draft plan to tackle pollution in Delhi NCR.

The draft included measures such as a crop-burning management plan, annual studies on air quality and steps to bolster the region’s crumbling public transport system.
