
Following the death of a man due to the Bharat bandh protest on Monday, case has been registered against two policemen in Madhya Pradesh.
The case has been registered against the policemen in connection with the death of Mahavir Rajawat in Bhind.
Six people were killed in Madhya Pradesh, at least five of them in the crossfire between the police and protesters. Three other people died, two in Uttar Pradesh and one in Alwar, Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the SC/ST National Commission has said that action will be taken against culprits involved in the violenceand death in the protest.
India erupted in violence Monday as Dalit protesters went on the rampage against an alleged dilution of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
At least nine people were killed in North India, as the protesters blocked trains, clashed with police and set fire to vehicles across several states during a nationwide bandh.
In its hearing on Tuesday, the Supreme Court said that it was not against the SC/ST Act and does not want the innocent to be punished.
The court's hearing came in response to the Centre's petition.
Supreme Court asked the lawyers in the case, including the Attorney General, to file a written submission which will be heard after 10 days.
