
Delhi Police Special Cell today said three people have been arrested on charges of conspiring to kill Shia Waqf Board Chairman Wasim Rizvi at the behest of India's most wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim.
Two months ago Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board chairperson, Waseem Rizvi had claimed he had got threatening calls allegedly from Dawood Ibrahim's group.
Rizvi had lodged an FIR over the issue under section 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The Waqf Board chairman had reportedly written a letter to PM Modi and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath to bring all Islamic religious institutions including madrasas under the general education system.
Rizvi had said he had got threatening calls over his letter to PM Modi and the UP CM Adityanath.
Several Muslim organizations had condemned Rizvi's move with the Maharashtra unit of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind claiming damages of Rs 20 crores over Rizvi's stand.
