A day after Indian general elections results were announced and Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious with a thumping majority, veteran actress Shabana Azmi took to Twitter to wish PM Narendra Modi on his party’s victory.
Azmi wrote, "What a strong mandate the people of India have given. Congratulations @narendramodi and NDA led by BJP.”

Soon after she posted, the actress was trolled as some users said that the actress had vowed to leave the country if PM Modi would emerge victorious in the election. However, Azmi rubbished these reports and said that the ‘fake news brigade’ had attributed a false quote to her. She further added that she is born in India and will take her last breath here.
