Manchester, UK

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has insisted that his side still have unfinished business in the Premier League as they prepare for the final run-in. Speaking ahead of the side’s next match in the Premier League, Ten Hag recalled on the season is not satisfied with the club’s position in the league. Hag’s Manchester United will be looking to end the Premier League season on a high as they aim for a Europa League spot for next season with chances of a top four finish looking dim.

Ten Hag on United’s form

"We are not where we want to be with the way we want to play, but the headlines are still there because we want to be proactive, be dynamic and we want to play with a high line. That's what we always aim for,” the United manager said while speaking to Gary Neville.

"We have made improvements. We score more goals after the winter break and also we were more consistent. We haven't have so many defeats in 2024 - only three defeats - but we draw too much. What we can do is put ourselves in a winning position, but then you have to draw to bring it over the line,” Hag added.

United’s miserable finish to 2023-24 season

As things stand, United will have two opportunities to qualify for the Europa League – a top six finish will see them reach the second-tier competition for Europe. However, if they miss out on a Top Six finish, even a win in the FA Cup final against arch-rivals Manchester City will see them play Europa League football in the 2024-25 season.

Currently United are sixth in the standings, one point clear of seventh placed Newcastle and three clear of Chelsea in eighth place. With a head-to-head match against Newcastle and a key fixture against Arsenal coming, United will need a solid finish to guarantee a top six spot. If United do finish outside the top four, it will be the sixth occasion they have done so in post Sir Alex Ferguson era under four different permanent managers.
