According to a new report, director Michael Bay will be returning to helm the next entry in the popular Transformers franchise. Michael Bay first brought the 1980s animated show to life with the 2007 film Transformers. The movie was a massive success, grossing over $700 million worldwide and making the franchise a household name. He went on to direct its sequels, Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Dark of the Moon (2011), Age of Extinction (2014), and The Last Knight (2017), before stepping back from the director's chair. While he continued as executive producer for later sequels, those films did not have the same impact and underperformed at the box office, which might be the reason behind his return. The franchise has grossed over $5.29 billion worldwide.

Michael Bay set to return as director

According to a report by SFFGazette, “Bay approached the studio last year to come back as a hands-on producer and possibly director, and he's got writer Jordan VanDina working on a script.
Criminal Justice: A Family Matter OTT viewership

The show has been one of the most-watched series in June. In the week of June 16–22, it garnered 5.7 million views, according to Ormax. Throughout the month, the show amassed 29.7 million views.

Criminal Justice Season 4 Review

For a series in its fourth season, the template of a courtroom drama mixed with police investigation could have fallen flat or felt repetitive. But to the makers' credit, the freshness remains, and so does the curiosity. There are several moments in the show when you would think you know who the killer is, but a little detail would pivot the plot just then. Well, if that's not the beauty of a well-crafted whodunnit, then what is? Read the full review here.

Director James Cameron announced his new project, a movie on the aftermath of the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima, Japan, by the United States of America during the Second World War. The project will be titled Ghosts of Hiroshima. During an interview while talking about the film, the Avatar director criticised Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer for skirting the aftermath of the attacks. Oppenheimer focuses on J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb, and how he and his team created the deadly weapon. The film won seven awards at the 96th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and grossed over $975 million worldwide.

Cameron criticises Nolan’s Oppenheimer

Speaking about Oppenheimer, Cameron said, “Yeah, it’s interesting what he stayed away from. Look, I love the filmmaking, but I did feel that it was a bit of a moral cop-out. Because it’s not like Oppenheimer didn’t know the effects. He’s got one brief scene in the film where we see, and I don’t like to criticise another filmmaker’s film, but there’s only one brief moment where he sees some charred bodies in the audience, and then the film goes on to show how it deeply moved him. But I felt that it dodged the subject.”

Nolan defends his film

Cameron is not the first to raise this issue about the film, but Nolan had defended his decision by saying that the film was based on Robert Oppenheimer's perspective.

Cameron on Ghosts of Hiroshima

As for Ghosts of Hiroshima, the movie is based on the historical book by Charles Pellegrino and is scheduled to be released on the 80th anniversary of the atomic bomb. Speaking about the project, Cameron said, “‘Avatar’ has taken over my life as a filmmaker and I’m now starting to dig my way through that and figure out a future that embraces not only completing the ‘Avatar’ saga, but also being able to do some of these other projects that are near and dear to me.”

After multiple delays, director Matt Reeves has officially finished the script for The Batman Part II. This puts to rest rumours that the project was cancelled by James Gunn and DC Studios in favour of the DCU's version of The Dark Knight, despite Gunn showing his excitement for the project in several interviews. The movie stars Robert Pattinson and was originally scheduled to start production in March 2026, but is now expected to start production in late 2025, likely between October and December.

A highly anticipated sequel

The movie is the sequel to 2022's critically and commercially successful The Batman and is set outside the DCU, with its own lineup of spin-offs, the first of which was the critically acclaimed Penguin series. The Batman Part II was originally scheduled to be released on 2 October 2026, but was pushed back to 1 October 2027.

Returning cast members

In The Batman, Robert Pattinson starred as Bruce Wayne/Batman and focused on the Dark Knight's efforts to stop an elusive serial killer who calls himself The Riddler, played by Paul Dano. The movie also focuses on Batman's first encounter with Selina Kyle/Catwoman, played by Zoë Kravitz. The rest of the supporting cast includes Jeffrey Wright as James "Jim" Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Oz/The Penguin, all of whom are expected to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Who will Batman face next?

There is plenty of speculation online as to which of his infamous villains Batman will face in the sequel, but it seems likely we will get to see Barry Keoghan's version of the Joker. His character made an appearance in a deleted scene in the movie as well as a small cameo at the end of the film, where he befriends The Riddler in Arkham Asylum. It should be noted that Matt Reeves has expressed interest in exploring lesser-known Batman villains, so fans will have to wait until filming starts to get more updates.
