Sharmin Sehgal responds to allegations of bullying her co-star Sanjeeda Shaikh

Sharmin Segal's performance in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar reignited the nepotism debate on social media platforms after the web series' premiere on Netflix. Subsequent interviews of the series' cast led to speculations of tiffs between the leading ladies of the project. Many accused Sharmin of "bullying" other cast members including Sanjeeda Shaikh and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Now, Sharmin has addressed the speculations in a Times Now interview. In her defence, Sharmin told the channel that some of her interviews have been taken "out of context".

Asked whether she believed the ‘insider-outsider’ narrative was deliberately constructed from her interviews with Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda, Sharmin responded, “I honestly don't know. What I do know is that my interviews were taken out of context, and some of my co-stars have graciously mentioned this. I have a very cordial relationship with both Aditi and Sanjeeda.

Other than Sharmin, Aditi and Sanjeeda, the series' ensemble cast included Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Pranitha Subhash, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Jason Shah, Fardeen Khan and Farida Jalal.

Sharmin, who was seen as Alamzeb in the web series, has been criticised and brutally trolled for her performance in the series.

Many have dubbed her performance as "expressionless" and "mediocre".

Before Heeramandi, Sharmin, who is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's niece, made her acting debut with Malaal opposite Meezaan Jafri.

Previously, she worked as an assistant director on the films like Mary Komand Bajirao Mastani.
