
Miss Kansas has called out her abuser in the most savage way. Alexis Smith, 25. who was recently crowned Miss Kansas on June 8, has earned a lot of praise worldwide for her fearless speech.
Smith, who comes from Butler County, became the third Black woman to win the title, after beating25 other contestants.
Miss Kansas' Powerful Speech
During the Q&A round, Smith called out her alleged abuser who was sitting in the audience during the pageant. The footage of her powerful speech has taken the internet by storm.
In the viral clip, Smith says she wants to “eliminate unhealthy and abusive relationships.”
“Some of you out in this audience saw me very emotional because my abuser is here today,” Smith said.
“But that’s not going to stop me from being on this Miss Kansas stage and from representing as the next Miss Kansas because I, and my community, deserve healthy relationships.We deserve a domestic [violence]-free life,” she said concluding her speech.
Smith, who is reportedly a full-time cardiothoracic ICU nurse, did not reveal the name of her abuser.
Days after winning the crown, Alexis shared the clip with the caption, ''Respect Reclaimed!Our time is now for healthy relationships.''
Smith will nowrepresent her state Kansas at the Miss America competition in January 2025.
