Korean actress Han So Hee’s mother has found herself in some legal trouble. The popular Korean actress’ mother was arrested for operating illegal gambling dens, according to reports by South Korean media.
Han So Hee’s mother has been identified as Ms Shin in reports.
The 50-year-old woman already has a sour relationship with her daughter due to her involvement in several fraud cases. Her mother was taken into custody on September 2. This marks her second arrest. It’s said that she dragged her daughter’s name into her past frauds worth tens of millions of wons. In March 2022, Han So Hee’s agency said that she will not take responsibility for her mother’s debt.
Her agency said, “[Han So Hee’s] mother Ms Shin used a bank account under Han So Hee’s name in the process of borrowing money. Ms. Shin arbitrarily opened the bank account when Han So Hee was a minor, and she used that account to borrow money without Han So Hee’s knowledge.”
Reports suggest that Ms Shin has been involved with 12 illegal gambling establishments in the South Korean cities of Ulsan, Wonju and more since 2021.
Han So Hee is most famous for her role in My Name.
Han So Hee lived with her grandmother since she was five. She has rarely been in touch with her mother since high school. After her mother was involved in fraud cases, Han severed further ties and issued a statement via her agency that she had nothing to do with activities that involved her mother.
Years ago, Han also claimed that she tried to pay off her mother's debt by working elsewhere before her debut in the acting industry. Only after debut did she finally learn that her mother had borrowed money using her name.
