After months of legal battles over inheritance, the Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to actor Karisma Kapoor’s children in their dispute with their stepmother, Priya Kapur, over their late father Sunjay Kapur’s will.

On Thursday, the Delhi High Court allowed an interim injunction plea filed by Karisma Kapoor’s two children, Samaira and Kiaan, restraining Priya from accessing or dealing with Sunjay's assets.

Big Relief For Karisma Kapoor's Children

Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur, passed away in June 2025. Following his death, a family dispute started over his Rs 30,000 crore estate. Sunjay’s children and mother, Rani Kapur, have knocked on the doors of the court alleging that his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, forged his will. Months after the case started, the Delhi High Court allowed an interim injunction plea filed by Kapoor’s two children and restrained their stepmother from creating any third-party rights over the assets left behind by their late father.

During the hearing, Justice Jyoti Singh said that Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur's mother, Rani Kapur, has raised suspicions over the validity and the authenticity of the will purportedly left by Sunjay. Over the questions raised, now the onus is on Priya to clear things.

During the hearing, the court also froze Sunjay Kapur’s assets. Justice Singh said that since the will is under dispute and the trial will take time, the assets should not be touched or reduced in the meantime.

Priya Kapur's restrained from accessing Sunjay's fund, operation of the foreign bank accounts stopped

As Karisma Kapoor’s children made a prima facie case, Justice Singh restrained Priya Kapur from alienating, transferring, or creating third-party rights over the assets of Sunjay Kapur until the matter is decided. Apart from this, the court has also stopped the operation of the foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrencies held by Sunjay Kapur.

“I have restrained from withdrawing money from three bank accounts of the two Indian banks, save and accept to the extent of discharging liabilities towards the children, under the degree of divorce between the deceased and the mother of the children,” the court said, as per Bar and Bench.

Meanwhile, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, appearing for Priya Kapur, denied allegations of changes to the assets, asserting that full disclosures had been made.

The court has also asked the respondents to submit the bank and account details. Apart from the children, Sunjay's mother has also challenged the Will over the dispute, involving assets estimated at nearly ₹30,000 crore. She has accused Priya of concealing a huge portion of his son's wealth from the court.
