Karan Johar apologises for his lockdown posts, says they may have 'lacked emotional foresight' amid pandemic crisis

Ever since the lockdown was announced in India, celebrities have been urging fans to stay home. Many of them have been sharing videos of their quarantine activities on social media as well. Karan Johar has even started a series of sorts called the 'Lockdown with the Johar's' featuring his twins who make fun of him in videos that the filmmaker has been sharing often on Instagram.

While the videos are entertaining, there's no denying of the fact that they are far removed from the harsh realities that many are facing on a day to day basis at present.

A viral video called 'Thank You Celebrities' very subtly highlights that while many celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Amanda Byrnes are treating this quarantine life as a mini-vacation, the common man is struiggling during the pandemic. The video was shared by screenwriter Aniruddha Guha on Twitter and Johar shared the tweet and apologised for his videos that may have come across as privileged and insensitive.

Karan Johar wrote, "This hit me hard and I have realised many of my posts may have been insensitive to many...I apologise profusely and wish to add none of it was intentional and came from a place of sharing but clearly may have lacked emotional foresight ....am sorry!"

While Johar apologised for his posts, there were some who commented on the post stating that his children's videos provided joy in such uncertain times. "Ur kids are Angeles in this hard time ..me and my daughter s are waiting for Yash Roohi videoes," a fan wrote, while another tweeted, "Why are you apologizing. Your videos are harmless with your kids. You are bringing joy to people like us and I am a healthcare worker in Chicago saying that. You aren’t one of the celebrities showing off, so please don’t apologize and keep posting and sharing joy."
