In pics: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gets Meryl Streep Award in the US, Janhvi Kapoor also honoured

Bollywood celebs were spotted last evening attending the first Women in Film and Television (WIFT) India Award as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was honoured with the inaugural Meryl Streep Award for Excellence in the USA.

Aishwarya along with her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan and mother Brinda Rai looked pretty in black and golden fishtail bustier gown with open hair. The trio looked happy at the event as Aishwarya was given the esteemed prize for her contribution to Hindi cinema. In one picture, Aaradhya looks excited to hold mother Aishwarya’s trophy.

Aishwarya took to Instagram to announce the prize.

Apart from Aishwarya, director Zoya Akhtar and ‘Dhadak’ star Janhvi Kapoor were also honoured at the event.

Speaking about the award named after veteran Hollywood actress Meryl Streep, WIFT India founding president Petrina D’Rozario said, “Whether it is her extraordinary body of work or her charitable endeavours, Ms Streep is an inspiration for all. Our aim here is to encourage others to think outside the norm of gender-based hiring practices and give females of all nationalities an equal chance to vie in fields dominated by men.”
