Almost a decade since we saw Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones and swooned over her love stories in multiple films. Returning to screen once again, Renée brings back the charm of Bridget Jones in a new film from the franchise and the film’s title is Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. This will be the fourth film in the iconic romantic comedy franchise.
In the new title, Renée Zellweger will play a widow and a single mother struggling to fall in love. As the name suggests, her character will now fall in love with a new boy who is much younger but equally charming as her late husband Mark Darcy.
Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy plot
The film will pick up four years after the untimely death of her loving husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). In the film, she is seen grappling with the challenges of raising her young children with help from her friends and former lover, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant).
With everyone around her pushing her to experience love again and make new romantic memories, she embarks on a new journey of love. She goes back to work and tries out dating apps where she comes across a much younger and charming man, played by actor Leo Woodall.
As for Mark Darcy, her husband died during a humanitarian mission in Sudan. Bridget returns to her TV news producer gig, and friends and former lovers, including Hugh Grant‘s Daniel Cleaver, step in to help her raise nine-year-old Billy and four-year-old Mabel.

The film has Michael Morris as its director and the author of the novel (on which the film is based) writes the script for screen adaptation.
There will be some actors who reprise her roles including Zellweger like Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones as Bridget’s parents, Emma Thompson as Dr. Rawlings, Sarah Solemani as Miranda, Sally Phillips as Shazzer, James Callis as Tom, and Shirley Henderson as Jude. New cast members include Leila Farzad, Isla Fisher, Josette Simon and Nico Parker.
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will be released on February 19. The film is executive produced by Helen Fielding, Renée Zellweger, Amelia Granger and Sarah-Jane Wright. Working Title has previously produced all the Bridget Jones films.
