New Delhi
Remember Renee Zellweger and Hugh Grant’s epic love story in Bridget Jones franchise? The two are set to return in a fourth film and we can’t wait to see their magic on the screen one more time.
The new film is titled Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. The film will have both the stars reprise their roles. Renee as Bridget and Hugh Grant as Daniel Cleaver. Notably, Emma Thompson, who starred in the third film as Bridget's obstetrician will also return.
Others joining the cast of the film are Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall. One person we will obviously miss is Mark Darcy played by Colin Firth.
Plot of new Bridget Jones film
In the Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy book, Bridget is a widow in her 50s with two children after Mark's death some years earlier. However, details of the film's plot is kept under wraps and we don’t know for sure that the film will follow the book.
The film is set for US release on Valentine's Day 2025. Its UK release date has not been announced.
Bridget Jones’s Diary was based on a book of the same name, which came out in 1996. It was released in 2001 and was a massive hit of the time. It starred Renee Zellweger as a 30-something chardonnay-swilling British singleton, obsessed with her weight and finding a man.
Then came a sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason, in 2004 which took the story to Thailand. A third film came in 2016 and saw Firth's Darcy competing with billionaire US love guru Jack Qwant, played by Patrick Dempsey, for Bridget's attention.
