Former child actress Raquel Lee Bolleau has reportedly filed a civil lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company, alleging that she was sexually abused by a former Disney employee. Read to know more.
Raquel Lee Bolleau, who worked professionally as Raquel Lee, was a child actress known for appearing on The Amanda Show and later becoming part of the Disney Channel family through The Proud Family. Her latest legal action relates to an experience she says occurred much earlier in her career, while she was filming the 2001 Disney Channel Original Movie The Poof Point.
What does the lawsuit allege?
According to the complaint, Bolleau has alleged that an unnamed middle-aged male Disney employee repeatedly sexually assaulted her while she was 14. As reported, she has claimed the alleged abuse took place while the cast and crew were staying in Salt Lake City, Utah, and continued during a flight back to California. The lawsuit alleges that the employee supplied her with alcohol before the alleged assaults.
Bolleau has also claimed that the Disney personnel encouraged her to spend time with and “bond” with the employee and that she was separated from her guardian during parts of the production.
A central part of Bolleau's lawsuit is her claim that there were visible warning signs that something was wrong.

She has also alleged that her behaviour and performance changed significantly after the alleged abuse began. According to the complaint, members of the production noticed that she appeared sick and intoxicated, which she says was dramatically different from how she had behaved before the alleged incidents.
What does Raquel seek from the lawsuit against Disney? Actress' association with the studio
The lawsuit accuses Disney of negligence and is seeking compensation for alleged economic losses and emotional distress, along with punitive damages, legal fees and other costs. The actress' attorneys, Douglas Wigdor and Jane Kim, said the case reflects broader concerns about the treatment and protection of young performers in the entertainment industry.
But, despite the alleged experience described in the lawsuit, Bolleau's professional relationship with Disney continued. She later provided a recurring voice role on The Proud Family, which originally ran from 2001 to 2005. She subsequently returned to the franchise for Disney+'s The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, which ran from 2022 to 2025.

Born in 1986, Raquel Lee Bolleau is a renowned American actress who has been part of Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show and as the voice of Nubia Gross in Disney's animated series The Proud Family.
She has also appeared in the 2024 docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, where she discussed her experiences and feeling "disposable" as a young Black performer in the television industry. Raquel has also featured in Real Husbands of Hollywood (2013) and the film Grow House (2017).
