'Girish Karnad left behind many inspired fans,' PM Modi, Kamal Haasan and others pay rich tributes to the legend

Girish Karnad's death is a huge loss to not just cinema but theatre and the world of literature. As the Jananpith Awardee breathed his last on Monday morning, he left behind a huge body of work - in cinema, theatre and literature that will continue to inspire generations.
As the news of his death came in, several actors from both cinema as well as theatre world took to Twitter to pay rich tributes to the legendary actor.
PM Narendra Modi also paid his tribute to Karnad as he wrote, "Girish Karnad will be remembered for his versatile acting across all mediums. He also spoke passionately on causes dear to him. His works will continue being popular in the years to come. Saddened by his demise. May his soul rest in peace.(sic)"

Haasan wrote, "Mr.Girish Karnad, His scripts both awe and inspire me. He has left behind many inspired fans who are writers. Their works perhaps will make his loss partly bearable.(sic)"

Shabana Azmi, who worked with Karnad in several films including the classic 'Swami', requested privacy as she mourned the loss of a friend. Azmi tweeted,"Deeply saddened to learn about #Girish Karnad. Havent yet been able to speak with his family. Its been a friendship of 43 years and I need the privacy to mourn him. I request the media to kindly excuse me from giving quotes."
Other actors and politicians too mourned the news of his death.
Karnad reportedly died to due to multiple organ failure. He is survived byhis wife Saraswathi, son Raghu Karnadand daughter Radha.
