New Delhi, India
One of the most-anticipated movie Crew starring three Bollywood acting heavyweights Tabu, Kareena Kapoor and Kriti Sanon was released in the theatres on March 29. The movie has opened with an outstanding response from the critics, who have lauded the fun chemistry between the three leads. However, if we look at the movie box office collection, the Crew earned decent numbers on the first day of its release.
Directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, the heist drama hit the theatres on the Good Friday holiday, which has benefited movie's box office numbers. On the first day, the film earned Rs 10.28 crore (Rs 102.8 million) at the domestic box office, becoming the third-biggest opening of 2024 in Bollywood after Hrithik Roshan's Fighter and Ajay Devgn's Shaitaan.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on X, ''#Crew pulls off the BIGGEST SURPRISE of 2024… Smashes ALL pre-release predictions by a wide margin… Silences ALL pessimists who doubted / undermined its #BO potential… Fri ₹ 10.28 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice. The superb start - aided by #GoodFriday holiday - also holds a lot of significance because #Crew was facing the #Hollywood giant #GodzillaXKong… All eyes on Sat - Sun biz.''

The movie registered a superb opening despite tough competition from Godzilla X Kong and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s The Goat Life. Both movies have earned more than Kareena's movie so far.
In India, Godzilla X Kong has earned around Rs 14.50 crore (Rs 145 million). Meanwhile, Prithviraj's survival drama which was released on March 28, has earned Rs 16 crore (Rs 160 million) in the first two days.
What is Crew all about?
The Crew revolves around three flight attendants: Geeta (Tabu), Jessica (Kareena) and Divya (Kriti), who are working at Kohinoor Airlines and have their own struggles to deal with a low salary. However, their turbulent life takes a drastic turn when they come under the eye of customs for smuggling of gold biscuits.
The movie also stars Diljit Dosanjh, and Saswata Chatterjee. Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma also makes a cameo appearance in the movie.
Crew review
WION's film critic Shomini Sen wrote, ''The three lead actresses share great onscreen chemistry and are well-cast. All from different age groups, all dealing with some very relatable problems at their age. A woman in her early 50s is planning to withdraw all her Provident Fund and retire in Goa with her husband, a single mother is struggling to pay off the school fees of her child and juggling a highly demanding job, an overweight air hostess fears being grounded, and a diligent straight A student wants to give the comforts to her loved ones she had always dreamt off,'' read full review here.
