Cast of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at Venice Film Festival

The 81st edition of the Venice Film Festival is currently underway. On Wednesday (Aug 28), Tim Burton brought much-needed spookiness to the prestigious festival with his long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

The much-awaited sequel of the 1988 movie has been in talks for years, and just a week before its release, the makers premiered the movie at one of the world’s oldest film festivals. The opening film of the festival received an outstanding response from the audience, who stood up and gave around a 4-minute standing ovation following the premiere.

Including the director Tim, the entire cast of the movie: Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara and Jenna Ortega stepped out to attend the premiere of the movie. Responding to the round of applause, Burton and his entire team took a bow before exiting the theatre.

Before the premiere, the entire team of the movie made a stylish appearance at the festival. The new addition to the Deetz family, Jenne Ortega garnered the major attention on the red carpet with her Dior red dress. Her dress was seemingly a tribute to her co-star Winona Ryder and her character Lydia Deetz's ruffle red wedding dress.

Ortega walked the red carpet surrounded by the shutterbugs wearing a two-piece red dress comprising of a heart-shaped top a ruffle skirt and platform sandals. Her bold makeup and red lips added more drama to her look. She tied her hair in a loose bun. She posed on the red carpet with her co-star Winona Ryder. The Stranger Things star wore a stylish black-tuxedo dress at the festival.

Thirty-six years after the original, the sequel of Tim Burton's blockbuster movie is set for release. The movie will take the audience back to the Deetz family as they return home to Winter River after Charles Deetz's death. In this movie, Ryder's character is now a mom and Ortega plays her daughter.

Ryder and O’Hara also reprise their iconic roles, alongside new entries: Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe.

The official synopsis of the movie reads, ''Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it's only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice's name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.''

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is in theaters Sept. 6.
