SL vs IND, 2nd ODI: Jeffrey Vandersay six-for helps Sri Lanka beat India by 32 runs

Sri Lanka beat India in the second ODI of three-match series by 32runs on Sunday (Aug 1) to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Chasing 241, India were bowled out for 208in 42.2overs with Jeffrey Vandersay taking 6/33in his 10 overs.
Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill had given India a brilliant start, adding 97 runs for the first wicket before Vandersay dismissed Rohit on 64.

During his innings, Rohit went past former head coach Rahul Dravid for most ODI runs among Indian batters. Rohit (10,831) is now behind only Sachin Tendulkar (18,426), Virat Kohli (13,886) and Sourav Ganguly (11,221) for most ODIs runs by an Indian batter.
Gill was next to depart scoring 35 as Vandersay claimed his second wicket. Shivam Dube, promoted up the order, failed to open his account and fell in the same over.
Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul were next to go as India's score became 147/6 from 97/0 in less than 10 overs - all to Vendersay.

Axar Patel and Washington Sundar then tried to steady the innings, adding 38 runs for the second wicket. SL skipper Charith Asalanka then dismissed both the batters in space of five runs with India seven down for less than 200.
The SL skipper returned to take India's ninth wicket in Mohammed Siraj with India at 201before a run out seven runs later ended the match.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision, however, proved costly instantly as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Pathum Nissanka on the first ball of the match.
Avishka Fernando and Kusal Medal then added 74 runs for the second wicket before Sundar dismissed both of them in the space of five runs.
After losing wickets in middle overs, Dunith Wellalage and Kamindu Mendis added 72 runs for the eighth wicket and took SL past 200 before Kuldeep sent back Wellalage in the 47th over.
A couple of runouts in the last over, however, meant Sri Lanka scored 240/9 in their 50 overs.
For India, Sundar finished with 3/30 in 10 overs, while Kuldeep took 2/33 in his 10. Apart from them, Siraj and Axar also took one wicket each.
