India’s triumphant T20 World Cup squad is all set to return home on Wednesday (Jul 3) as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reported to have arranged a charter flight to travel. The Indian team won the T20 World Cup in the early hours of Sunday morning according to Indian Standard Time (IST), but have since been left stranded in Barbados after Hurricane Beryl restricted activities in the island nation including the airport. However, now it is reported that the airport will become operational allowing India to leave on Tuesday evening.

BCCI arranges charter flight

It is reported that Team India will take off at 6:00 PM local time on Tuesday (3:30 AM IST) with the airport set to be clear for air traffic. The flight is then set to land in the national capital New Delhi on Wednesday at 7:45 PM. The flight will contain Team India’s entire T20 World Cup winning squad along with reserve players, coaching staff and the members of the BCCI including Secretary Jay Shah, President Roger Binny and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

Once arriving in India, the players are likely to take rest on Wednesday before being part of a road show in the national capital. It is also reported that if the flight lands early, the players could have a joint dinner party with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In case the flight takes long to arrive, the dinner party will be hosted on Thursday (Jul 4).

What will happen with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson?

Players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed are bound for India’s Zimbabwe tour which starts on Saturday (July 6). While players not playing in the T20 World Cup have already left for the African nation, the above-mentioned stars will be travelling more in a short space. They will have to leave for Zimbabwe by Thursday if they are to participate in Saturday’s opening contest.

There is no official word yet on whether the BCCI has arranged another charter flight for the players to travel to Zimbabwe.
