SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Heinrich Klaasen says that working with former South Africa all rounder Albie Morkel has helped him with his technique in six-hitting. Notably, Klaasen has hit 17 sixes in five games he has played this Indian Premier League (IPL) season - third most behind Rajasthan Royals' Riyan Parag with 18 sixes in six games and Lucknow Super Giants' Nicholas Pooran with 19 sixes in six matches.

Speaking to cricket website Cricbuzz, Klaasen revealed: "I've put in a lot of work with Albie Morkel, to make sure I get the technical things right. Just a couple of drills to keep maintaining and fine-tuning it. It's about practising the [bat] swing shape and making sure that the launch angle is good. I worked with Albie two years ago and before the IPL again."

Klaasen made his debut in the IPL in 2018 but played just four games. In the next season, he played just three games before making a full-fledged comeback in 2023, playing 12 games in the season. In his comeback year, Klaasen went on to his 25 sixes in 12 games and scored 448 runs at a strike rate of 177.

The South African batter also revealed that he doesn't face a lot of balls while practicing with Morkel but just tries to make sure that everything is correct technically.

"It's quite a simple couple of drills. We train for two days, basically an hour each. I am not a guy that hits a lot of balls. The drill is simple, it's easy to figure out what's wrong and what's right. Before the IPL, it's just a quick session to make sure everything is going right, and if we have to work on something, we try to sort it out in a few days," saidKlaasen.

The Protea is in rich form this season as well, having already scored 186 runs at an average of 62 and strike rate of 193.
