Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) all-rounder Krunal Pandya has said that pacer Mayank Yadav's injury isn't serious and that he might continue to play in the upcoming matches. Mayank, who has lit up the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with his pace, left the field during the match against Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 7.

Speaking after the match, Pandya said: "I don't know what exactly happened to Mayank Yadav, but I had a couple of seconds with him. So, I think he is okay to continue in future matches. That is positive news for us. He was bowling well in the nets earlier and last season before missing the tournament due to an injury. Whatever conversation I have had, whatever we see, he has a good head on his shoulder. Really excited to see how his career pans out."

Notably, Mayank was adjudged Player of the Match in his first two matches for his three-wicket haul in each game.

Mayank has also bowled the fastest delivery of the season at 156.7 kmph during the match against Punjab Kings, improving on his record of 155.8 kmph from the previous match vs RCB. Yadav's fastest delivery of the season is now fourth on the list of all-time fastest deliveries of the league. Ahead of him are Shaun Tait (157.7 kmph in IPL 2011), Lockie Ferguson (157.3 in IPL 2022) and Umrah Malik (157 kmph in IPL 2022).

As for the game against GT, LSG batted first and posted a modest score of 163/5 in 20 overs. Marcus Stoinis top-scored for Lucknow with 58. 

In the absence of Mayank, LSG spinners stepped up and so did pacer Yash Thakur who picked up his maiden five-wicket haul. Apart from Thakur, Pandya also returned with figures of 3/11 in four overs as GT were bowled out for 130 and lost the game by 33 runs.
