IPL 2024 LSG vs MI, Match 48 Preview: Lucknow set to unleash speedster Mayank on struggling Mumbai

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav is set to return as they face a wobbling Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on April 30. Mayank lit up the IPL in his first three matches, taking six wickets. He, however, got injured in his third match against Gujarat Titans on April 7 and walked off the field after just bowling one over and giving away 13 runs.

Mayank's pace will be a huge boost for LSG who are aiming to get into the top three of the points table with a win. They already have five wins from nine games and currently, sit at number five on the points table with 10 points. LSG will also be hoping to bounce back from the seven-wicket loss against Rajasthan Royals in their last match at home when they failed to defend 197.

For Lucknow, skipper KL Rahul has been in good form, scoring 378 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 144. Apart from him, no other batter has been consistent but they have chipped in as and when required. In the bowling department, Yash Thakur has been their best bowler with 10 wickets in eight games. However, LSG's spinners Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi, who both have five wickets each, would be looking to be more effective.

As for MI, they are fighting to stay alive in the race forplayoffs after losing six of the nine games played. After losing the first three games, MI looked to be back with three wins in the next four games but their campaign derailed again with two consecutive losses in the last two games.

Neither MI's batters nor their bowlers have been able to wrest control of the innings at crucial junctures which is reflected in their ninth position on the points table.
