Indian batter Hanuma Vihari received aNo Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) on Tuesday (Jun 4), hours after the assembly poll results started coming in.
Vihari, who has represented the country in 16 Test matches in his short career, took to his social media handles to post the NOC mail.
“I have been asking for NOC from 2 months, mailed them 4 times. Didn’t give my NOC. Now that things have turned, they’ve issued my NOC immediately. lol,” Vihari wrote, referring to the assembly poll results.
Vihari received the NOC on the same day aselection results showedincumbent YSR Congress Party (YSRCP)being replaced by TDP-led NDA alliance in the state. The TDP, which is ahead in 130 of 175 seats in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly,is en route to wresting the southern state from YSRCP led by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Earlier this year, Vihari alleged thatpolitical interference was the reason for his dismissal as the Andhra Pradesh Ranji team captain. After being removed from the post in an unceremonious manner, Vihari soughtan NOC from the board whichis required by a player looking to switch associations.
Prior tothe NOC request, ACA had served a show-cause notice to Vihari and urged him to come to the board with his grievances.
After Andhra crashed out of the Ranji Trophy, Vihari said he would "never play for Andhra" again. In an Instagram post, Vihari revealed that he was asked to step down fromcaptaincy after a complaint was launched against him.
The said complaint came after the 17th man in the Andhra squad approached his father, a politician, as he was not happy with the behaviour of Vihari.According toreports,KN Prudhuvi Raj was the 17th player who filed the complaint.
"I never said anything on a personal note to the player, but the association thought the player was more important than the guy who gave his body on the line last year and batted left-handed, took Andhra to the knockouts five times in the last seven years and played for India in 16 Tests," wrote Vihari.
The ACA at the time said a reported issue had come to its attention wherein Vihari hadverbally abused a specific player during the Bengal Ranji game in front of everyone. The affected player was the one who filed the complaint.
