Former Pak batter dismisses THIS India star's comeback till 2025 Champions Trophy, says 'focus on IPL 2025'

Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has ruled out Ishan Kishan's comeback into the Indian team. Basit feels the swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter will not be able to make a national comeback till the 2025 Champions Trophy, to be held early next year in Pakistan. Moreover, the ex-cricketer has advised Kishan to focus on IPL 2025 to stage a return inthe Indian colours.

Kishan was part of Rohit Sharma-led India's 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, at home. He even played the home five T20Is versus Australia, soon after the ODI World Cup, but hasn't played for India since he opted to return home midway during the tour of South Africa in Dec-Jan. Since then, he has not been picked in the Indian team, lost his central contract and is playing in domestic tournaments in order to make a comeback. However, Basit feels he should 'focus on IPL 2025' as he won't be able to make a comeback till the next edition of the Champions Trophy.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Basit said, "Ishan Kishan needs to focus on the IPL now because he doesn't have a chance of returning to the Indian team till the Australia series. In fact, there's no chance till the Champions Trophy. Let's see what happens after that."

Currently, Kishan is leading Jharkhand in the Buchi Babu Trophy. He impressed one and all in his side's tournament-opener, where Jharkandbeat Madhya Pradesh by two wickets. The southpaw scored an impressive 86-ball century in the first innings (114 off 107 balls)and remained unbeaten on 41 to guide his side to a narrow win.
