India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal hit Aussie spinner Nathan Lyon for a 100-metre six on Day 2 of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test in Perth, Australia. Jaiswal was in full form on Saturday (Nov 23) after getting out on a duck in the in the first innings as India took a commanding position in the Test.
The shot came in the third session of the day with the southpaw already past his maiden fifty Down Under. Lyon bowled a ball on the middle and leg stump which Jaiswal launched towards long-on.

The left-hand batter hit two sixes during his unbeaten fifty. He now has hit the most Test sixes (34) in a calendar year, overtaking former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum's record of 33 sixes in 2014.

He has been a breakthrough player for India ever since making his red-ball debut in 2023. He has scored 1209 Test runs in 2024 already with potentially three more Tests available for him to further extend his tally apart from the ongoing innings.
His runs in 2024 are only behind England great Joe Root who has 1,338 runs in 14 Tests he has played in 2024.
Jaiswal, along with India's other opener KL Rahul, has added an unbeaten 172 runs for the first wicket in India's second innings – the second-highest opening partnership for India in Tests in Australia.
The visitors ended the day with 218 runs ahead in the second innings including the first 46-run first innings lead without losing a single wicket. Jaiswal was not out 90 by the end of the day's play while Rahul was unbeaten on 62.
Earlier, Australia resumed their innings from the overnight score of 67/7 and were bowled out for 104 with stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah taking 5/30.
