Petrol rates continue to rise, inches closer to Rs 90-mark in Mumbai

Petrol prices in Delhi saw an unabated rise on Saturday amounting to Rs 82.44 per litre, an increase of 12 paise from Friday. However, diesel prices in the national capital remained unchanged at Rs 73.87 per litre.

In Mumbai, petrol prices were hiked by 11 paise at Rs 89.80 per litre, diesel remained unchanged at Rs 78.42 per litre on Saturday.

Petrol prices in the national capital on Friday rose by 10 paise amounting to Rs.82.32 per litre while diesel remained unchanged at Rs.73.87 per litre.

For Mumbai, petrol prices registered a hike of 0.09 paise at Rs 89.69 per litre, diesel remained unchanged at Rs 78.42 per litre on Friday.

Fuel prices remained unchanged for the first time since September 12 on Wednesday with petrol selling at Rs 82.16 per litre and diesel at Rs 73.87 per litre in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday admitted that fuel prices are "very high and hurting the public".
