The domestic stock market on Monday ended on a positive note with BSE Sensex closing 0.74 per cent or 292 points higher at 39,686.50 as compared to its previous close.

NSE Nifty, on the other hand, rose by 77 points to end at 11,865.60.

In early trade today, the benchmark indices edged higher amid strong global cues coupled with investors awaiting the Union Budget this week. 

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is slated to present the new budget this Friday, July 5.

In its previous close on Friday, the domestic stock market on Friday ended in red with BSE Sensex falling 191.77 points to end at 39,394.64. NSE Nifty, on the other hand, dropped 52.70 points to close at 11,788.85.

Amid weak cues from global equities, domestic equity benchmarks BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty started on a cautious note Friday.
