India's benchmark indices closed at new all-time highs, with the Sensex and Nifty closing early 1 per cent higher.
The blue-chip Sensex index rose over 700 points to end over 78,000 points for the first time ever.
The index started the day in the green before jumping to an intra-day life high of about 78165.
The broader Nifty index closed at a new record high of 23,721.
The Nifty, too, started the day with gains and rose to an all-time high of around 23,754.
With the life highs hit on Tuesday, the nifty index has marked some kind of a record in 11 of the 12 sessions since June 7. Monday was the only exception in the record-high runs for the index.
The index now eyes the 24,000 mark, with analysts calling for that level to be reached this week itself. The bull run in Indian stocks is being driven by expectations of pro-growth policies in the budget.
