LFP batteries used in LG Energy Solution do not employ nickel and cobalt used in NCM batteries; instead, it has iron and phosphate. In pouch-type battery, the company has taken up the CTP (Cell To Pack) technology that upgrades it for cost efficiency, safety and sets it out in the cut-throat competition in EV batteries.

In reaching this partnership, both the companies reestablish themselves by providing high product competitiveness and customer value, says David Kim, the LG Energy Solution’s CEO. ”We are ready to increase the supply of automotive LFP batteries, and the first target is Europe, at the same time, we will keep developing and satisfying the new requirements.”
