Videos are going viral, purportedly depicting the aftermath of the severe turbulence incident on a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore that resulted in one death and several injuries. The videos show how terrifying the incident would have been for the passengers inside the aircraft.

The incident occurred over the Andaman Sea, causing the aircraft to drop more than 1,800 metres (6,000 feet) in just five minutes before being diverted to Bangkok.

The purported videos show items lying around in the aisle in the aftermath of the rattling incident.

Many items in the plane tumbled down and created a cluttered mess on the floor. Several bottles were also seen on the plane floor.

The footage revealed a scene of chaos.After the turbulence caused by a rapid change in altitude of the aircraft, the oxygen masks also seems to have fallen off, as seen dangling in the video.

The Boeing 777-300ER was carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members. It landed in Bangkok at 3:45 pm.

The aircraft maintained this lower altitude briefly before making the emergency landing in Bangkok.

The emergency crews were waiting to assist the injured during the incident. In a social media post, Singapore Airlines confirmed the diversion and the emergency landing.

"Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased," the airline stated.

"We are working with local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance and have dispatched a team to Bangkok to offer additional support."

At least three Indian nationals were among the passengers on the Singapore Airlines flight when it met this tragic incident.

Plunging 6,000 feet in five minutes

FlightRadar24 data reportedly detailed the plane's abrupt descent from 37,000 feet to 31,000 feet within five minutes. The turbulence struck as the cabin crew was serving breakfast. The passenger who died in the incident reportedly lost his life from a heart attack. He has been identified as a 73-year-old British man named Geoff Kitchen.Meanwhile, 30 others were left injured.

Many passengers reach Singapore

Many passengers reached Singapore on Wednesday (May 22) morning. One described the last leg of their journey from Bangkok as "good flight".

The emergency landing was prompted by the aircraft's sudden drop over the Andaman Sea, near Myanmar. During the incident, the plane sent out a "squawk code" of 7700, an international signal for emergencies.

Singapore Airlines is coordinating with Thai authorities to manage the aftermath and support the affected passengers and crew.

The incident has left many shaken as they come to terms with the tragic event.
