American-Sikh lawyer Jaspreet Singh with Kamala Harris

Days after jailed Waris Punjab De chiefAmritpal Singh won the Khadoor-Sahib seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, American-Sikh lawyer Jaspreet Singh has reached out to US Vice-President Kamala Harris and is seeking her intervention in securing his release.

Singh is currently imprisoned in Assam's Dibrugarh jail on terror charges from where he fought India's general elections as an independent candidate and won.

Taking the jailed leader's side, the lawyer contended that Amritpal Singh's detention is "unjust". He also claimed to have read the casethoroughly.
