Humanity's expedition to figure out the origin of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) through the purported Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) continues. From the United States and Mexico, this curiousity has now hit the Japanese coast.

The lawmakers in Japan met on Tuesday (May 28) to create a nonpartisan group that will ask Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's government to establish an organisation to probe Unidentified Aerial Phenomena or the UAP.

The group will be chaired by the Japanese parliamentary affairs leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Yasukazu Hamada.

Former Environment Minister Shinjiro Koizumi, also from the LDP, will serve as secretary-general, the Japan Times reported.

Japan's UFO committee: What next?

The group is set to hold its founding general meeting on June 6 after its formation following May 28 preparatory meeting that was held in the Japanese capital.

Earlier, the government of the United States had created a specialised organisation in the Defence Department to probe the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP).

Japan's UFO committee: What they intend to achieve?

The lawmaker group will urge the government to gather and analyse information on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena and pursue cooperation with the United States by forming a counterpart organisation.

In its first statement, the group said that it would seek to find out whetherthe Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, which has been reportedly witnessed many times over Japanese territories, are secret weapons or unmanned spy drones from other countries. The group is expected to figure out if they are cutting-edge spying equipment that could potentially be a major security threat to Japan.

The group is also asking all parties elected to Japan's parliament to designate its representatives in the UFO committee.

Last year, a Pentagon report concluded that a spike in UFO sightings in the 1950s and 60s was caused by tests of advanced US spy planes and space technology.
