In the 17th episode of the 11th season that aired in 2000 - almost 24 years ago, Lisa Simpson became the first female president of the US, according to a post by a user on X (formerly Twitter). Lisa could be seen wearing an outfit that has an eerie similarity to the one worn by Harris at Joe Biden's inauguration, four years ago.

“This episode, which aired in 2000, strongly suggests that real estate mogul Donald Trump became president and left behind a budget crisis for Lisa to handle," the X user added.

Biden quit the presidential race on Sunday (Jul 21) after months of speculations surrounding his deteriorating cognitive abilities. The US president posted a letter on his social media accounts where he said he was dropping out as it was in the best interests of the country.

Minutes after making the announcement, Biden posted another message where he publicly endorsed Harris as the Democrat presidential nominee.

"My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this," said Biden.

What happens now?

Democrats now have to choose a new nominee since the Primaries cannot be held. The Democratic convention gets underway in Chicago on August 19 where the Democrat leaders are expected to pick their nominee.

Biden has already endorsed Harris - meaning, she leads the race and in all likelihood, will be approved at the convention.

Consequently, she would become the first US presidential candidate of Indian origin. After that, if she wins the November election, she will become the first woman and Indian origin president of the US.

Harris's name had been doing the rounds to replace Biden ever since the first presidential debate took place last month. Biden could not hold his own in the debate as he stumbled, stuttered and zoned out multiple times.
