Emirates, on Friday (Oct 4), announced that it would prohibit passengers from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies on flights to and from Dubai, Gulf News reported.The airline emphasised that any such items found in hand luggage or checked-in baggage will be confiscated by Dubai Police.

Emirates' announcement came weeks afterthousands ofpagers, as well as walkie-talkies, used by Hezbollah militants, blew up across Lebanon, killing at least 39 people and wounding thousands.The attacks were widely believed to have been carried out by Israel, which has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement.

Flights to and from Beirut remain cancelled till Oct15: Emirates

As per the Gulf News report, Emirates also issued an update aboutits flight operations to several destinations in the Middle East, following a review of the current situation in the region.

Emirates announced thatits flights to and from Beirut remain cancelled until October 15.

Passengers with Beirut as their final destination, including those transiting through Dubai, would not be accepted for travel at their point of origin until further notice.

The airlineurged all customersto ensure their contact details were up-to-dateby visiting the ‘Manage Your Booking’ section on the Emirates website to receive timely updates.

Latest updates from West Asia crisis

In the latest updates from the West Asia crisis, the Israeli military,on Saturday (Oct 5) saidthat itstruck Hezbollah militantsinside a south Lebanon mosque overnight.

In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF)said, "Overnight, with the direction of IDF (army) intelligence, the IAF (air force) struck Hezbollah terrorists who were operating within a command centre that was located inside a mosque adjacent to the Salah Ghandour Hospital in southern Lebanon."

This attack on the mosque came as an Israeli strikehit Lebanon's northern city of Tripoli for the first time.
