Major jolt to Robert F. Kennedy Jr as 15 members of his family endorse Biden for US presidential polls

Robert F. Kennedy Jr, a candidate for the presidential elections in the United States (US),has suffered a majorjolt. Fifteen members of the Kennedy family endorsedPresumptive Democratic presidential nominee and current President Joe Bidenat a Philadelphia campaign event.Kennedy, 70, son of the slain US senator and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, made his name as an environmentallawyer,before becoming known as an anti-vaccine advocate with an eclectic mix of political views.
Many in KennedyJr'sfamilyhave broken with him over his views. A recent poll by Reuters/Ipsos showed that the 70-year-old, running as an independent candidate in the elections, was backed by 15 per cent of the registeredvoters, versus 39 per centfor Biden and 38 per centfor presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
'Avote for Biden is a vote for democracy'
KennedyJr'ssister Kerry was part ofBiden'sPhiladelphia campaign event on Thursday. Addressing the event, Kerry said,"A vote for Joe Biden is a vote for our democracy andourdecency."

Speaking to the news agency Reuters,Biden'scampaign aides said that Kennedy family memberswere expectedtojoin local volunteers in door-knocking and phone-banking onBiden'sbehalf.
'Pleased my family is politically active'
Meanwhile, in a post on X, Kennedy Jr saidthathe heard some of his family memberswere endorsingBiden.

"Ihear some of my family will be endorsing President Biden today. I am pleased they are politically active —it’sa family tradition. We are divided in our opinions but united in our love for each other. I hold this as a possibility for Americatoo," he said.
"Can we disagree without hating our opponents? Can we restore civility and respect to public discourse? I think we can,"he added.
