Willow the White House Cat

the US First Lady Jill Biden has written a children's storybook about Willow, the short-haired tabby who lives in the White House.

While US President Joe Biden's dogs are infamous for their bad behaviour, the White House cat is getting a book all to herself. The book narrated Willow's journey from a farm in Pennsylvania to the White House in 2022.

Willow the White House Catwill come out in June, four months before Joe Biden faces re-election with Donald Trump.

"As Willow bounds from room to room, exploring history in her new home, she learns quickly about all of the incredible people who make the 'People's House' run," Jill Biden said in a statement through publisher Simon and Schuster.

"Making many new friends along the way, Willow's journey gives the world a 'cats-eye' view of all the ins and outs of America's most famous address," she added.

Since Bidens' dogs were removed after several biting incidents, Willow remains the last presidential pet at the White House.

The German Shepherds, Commander and Major, were sent to live elsewhere after they bit several people, including Secret Service agents. Commander arrived as a pup in the White House in 2021. Bidens' beloved dog Champ died in 2021 at 13.

'First Feline' Willow is the first cat to live in the White House since India, owned by President George W Bush and the First Lady Laura Bush.

Like First Lady Jill Biden, Willow hails from Pennsylvania, a prominent battleground state in November's election. She gets her name from Jill Biden's hometown, Willow Grove.

Jill Biden, 72, has co-written the book with author Akyssa Satin Capucilli. Illustrations in the book are by Artist Kate Berube, the publishers said.

The White House has a long history of presidential pets. Although cats have been rare, most of them have had literary journeys.

Both Hillary Clinton and Barbara Bush wrote books about their White House pets. Donald Trump, who aims for a comeback, was the first president since Andrew Jackson not to have any.
