An Iranian mole informed the Israeli military of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah's location, hours before the airstrike, French newspaper Le Parisien has claimed.Nasrallah was killed in the suburbs of Beirut on Friday (Sep 28) after the Israeli Air Force droppedUS-made BLU-109 bombs with JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) guidance kits.
The spy informed Israeli officials that Nasrallah would be at Hezbollah's underground headquarters to attend a meeting with top members of the militant outfit, the publication stated.
It added that Nasrallah arrived at the location in the exact vehicle asAbbas Nilforoushan, the deputy commander of Iran's Quds Force in Lebanon.
Notably, this is not the first instance when the role of an Iranian spy has been mentioned in the aftermath of the death of a leader belonging to the Axis of Resistance. Last month, British outlets claimed thatIsrael's premier intelligence agency, Mossad, hired Iranian security agents to plant the bomb in three rooms of the guesthouse where Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was staying.
“They are now certain that Mossad hired agents from the Ansar al-Mahdi protection unit. Upon further investigation, they discovered additional explosive devices in two other rooms,” an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) official was quoted as saying by the publication.

On Saturday (Sep 28), the Israeli military said that Nasrallah was eliminated during Friday's strikes, which targeted the suburbs of Beirut.
"Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorise the world," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The militant outfit also confirmed the death of its leader later in the day, which means that the entire chain of command of Hezbollah has been killed in the span of less than two weeks.
Notably, more than 80 bombs were dropped by Israel within a few minutes to kill Nasrallah and his aides. After Nasrallah's death, reports claim that his cousin Hashem Safieddine may take the reins of the group, who has already been on Hezbollah’s Jihad Council.
