‘I want a drug test’: Trump says Biden was ‘higher than kite’ at State of the Union address

Donald Trump has insinuated that President Joe Biden may have been under the influence of drugs during his State of the Union (SOTU) address last month. The former Republican presidential candidate made these comments during an interview with radio broadcaster Hugh Hewitt on Thursday (April 4). Referring to reports of cocaine being found in the White House in July last year, Trump claimed, without offering evidence, that Biden was "all jacked up" and "higher than a kite" during his March address.

When asked if he thinks that Joe Biden was using cocaine,Trumpsaid, "I think what happened is, you know, that white stuff that they happened to find, which happened to be cocaine in the White House, I don't know, I think something's going on there".

"I watched his State of the Union, and he was all jacked up at the beginning. By the end, he was fading fast. There's something going on there. I want to debate. And I think debates, with him, at least, should be drug tested. I want a drug test," he continued.

When asked by the host if he is suggesting that the US President used cocaine, Trump responded,"I don't know what he's using, but that was not, hey, he was higher than a kite".

"But he's obviously, he's being helped in some way, because most of the time, he looks like he's falling asleep. And all of a sudden, he walked up there and did a poor job. But he was all jacked up," Donald Trump added.

Reacting to Trump's comments, Biden campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa said it was a "weird outburst." He encouraged voters to focus on Trump's plans to deport people and separate families, and his false claims about the election. Moussa also suggested that Trump's campaign is struggling because his ideas don't appeal to voters.

Biden trails Trump in battleground states

As the November US election approaches, President Joe Biden finds himself behind Donald Trump in six out of seven key battleground states, according to the most recent opinion poll. The survey, conducted by the Wall Street Journal, indicates widespread dissatisfaction with the national economy and significant doubts regarding Biden's capabilities and performance.

Donald Trump holds a lead of two to eight percentage points over Joe Biden in six battleground states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina. However, Biden maintains a three-point lead over Trump in Wisconsin.
