Colt Gray, 14, and his father, who have beencharged in connection with a school shooting in the US state of Georgia made their first appearances incourt on Friday (Sep 6), wherein both declined to enter a plea to the charges against them.
The 14-year-oldstudent and his father Colin Gray have been detainedin connection with a mass shooting incident at theApalachee High Schoolwhich led to the deathsoftwo students and two teachers.
Judge Currie Mingledorff told the father that if convicted on all counts, he would face a maximum prison sentence of 180 years.
Colin Gray, 54, allegedly gave his 14-year-old son a firearm "with the knowledge he was a threat to himself and others" and has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of involuntary manslaughter, and eight counts of cruelty to children.
The 54-year-old would also face up to 30 years in prison for each count of second-degree felony murder.
If convicted, hecanget up to 10 years in prison for each count of involuntary manslaughter. He could also get10 yearsin prison for each count of cruelty to children.
Initially, Judge Currie said that the maximum penalty in the case of Colt was the death sentence or life in prison.

However, he later called Coltback into the courtroom and corrected himself, saying that the teen could face life in prison with or without parole because of his young age.
The prosecutors have alleged that Coltfired an AR-style rifle on campus on Wednesday (Sep 4)morning, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Apart from four killed, nine others were injured in the shooting.
