Data breach row: Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak deactivates his Facebook account

Among the tech leader who aregiving up on Facebook following the data breach scandal, Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple has also left the social media platform.

Wozniak said to the USA today in a mail that he'd rather pay Facebook than his personal information being exploited for advertising. He further praised Apple for respecting user's privacy.

"Apple makes its money off of good products, not off of you," Wozniak said. "As they say, with Facebook, you are the product", he said.

Facebook came under fire for mishandling user's information as the UK based data mining firm Cambridge Analytica obtained the data through illegal measures. The company has assisted Donald Trump in his 2016 presidential election.

Mark Zuckerberg had also announced that as many as 87 million Facebook user's data was compromised in the whole scandal.

Wozniak has not completely deleted his account rather he just has deactivated so the no one can take the screen name of his.

Before deactivating his account, Wozniak went through his setting was shocked to see the extent to which that data has been collected.

"I was surprised to see how many categories for ads and how many advertisers I had to get rid of, one at a time. I did not feel that this is what people want done to them," he wrote. "Ads and spam are bad things these days and there are no controls over them. Or transparency," he wrote in a mail.
