With the 2024 US presidential election approaching, Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris are set to face off in their first televised debate. The debate, just weeks before the election, will give voters a chance to see how each candidate presents their policies and responds to key issues. Hosted by ABC, the event will take place at Philadelphia's National Constitution Centre.
The debate will be moderated by ABC News anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis.
The rules for the debate are clear; as per ABC, the debate will not include opening remarks, and neither candidate will have prior access to the topics or questions. During the event, both Harris and Trump will be restricted from asking each other questions. They will each be given two minutes to respond to questions, two minutes for rebuttals, and one minute for any further clarification. Closing remarks will be limited to two minutes for each candidate.
