Tensions have escalated sharply following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, leader of the Palestinian group Hamas, in Tehran on Wednesday. This incident occurred just a day after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed Fuad Shukr, a top military commander from the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.
Consequently, several countries have issued travel warnings to their citizens against travelling to Lebanon. Here is a list of those countries:
- Turkey: The Turkish Foreign Ministry urged its citizens in Lebanon to leave the country if their stay is non-essential, citing the possibility of a rapidly deteriorating security situation, Reuters reported.
- India: The Indian Embassy in Beirut issued a travel advisory urging Indian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to Lebanon due to rising regional tensions.

In Israel, the Indian embassy has urged its nationals to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols. Additionally, Air India has suspended its flights to Tel Aviv.
There are currently 26,000 Indians in Israel, 10,000 in Iran and 4,000 in Lebanon.
The Embassy wrote on X, “Given the recent escalations in the region, Indian nationals are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Lebanon.”
