China's People's Liberation Army(PLA) said today that ties with the Pakistan Army helps the two countries to maintain "regional peace and global stability".

Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Chinese military spokesman, Col Ren Guoqiang said: "China and Pakistan share all weather partnership. We have maintained very high level of defence exchange and cooperation."

Pakistan has increasingly leaned on China for its defense needs. Last week China’s Academy of Sciences had confirmed it had sold a sophisticated missile defense system which was considerably superior to its “home-made missile systems”.

Pakistan had bought a highly sophisticated, optical tracking and measurement system from China and deployed it at a firing range for use in testing and developing its new missiles.

The "regional balance" theory has some credence as two years ago, the PLA Daily in a statement had complained that India’s deployment of “supersonic missiles”  on its border had “exceeded its own needs of self-defense and poses a serious threat to China’s Tibet and Yunnan provinces”

"I am very confident that military cooperation will help facilitate our state to state relationship and also in maintaining regional peace and international stability," the PLA military spokesman said.

More than 60 per cent of China's exports goes to Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar and another 22 per cent to Africa, a recent study report by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute said.
