Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lu Kang Today said the Kashmir issue should be resolved bilaterally by India and Pakistan through talks, PTI reported.
While dismissing the calls by the Organisation of Islamic Corporation for the implementation of the UN resolution of Kashmir, Lu Kang said the Kashmir issue should be resolved bilaterally.
"China has noted the relevant report. China's position on the Kashmir issue is clear-cut," Lu said, in response to a question, PTI said.
He further added, "The Kashmir issue is left over from history. China hopes India and Pakistan can increase dialogue and communication and properly handle relevant issues and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability".
The OIC consisting of 57 members routinely passes a resolution on Kashmir calling for the implementation of the UN resolution. The contact group of OIC met two days ago on the sidelines of UN assembly.
Pakistan, which is also a member of OIC, demanded that the UN Security Council resolution on Kashmir should be implemented. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan urged the world body to appoint a special envoy to Kashmir.
