A shooting at a campground near Arcadia Lake in Edmond, Oklahoma, on Sunday night (May 3) left at least 10 people wounded, according to initial reports, prompting a large law enforcement response with multiple ambulances seen leaving the scene.

The Edmond Police Department has confirmed a shooting occurred, but did not immediately provide details on the number of casualties. Officers from the Edmond Police Department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, along with additional law enforcement agencies, responded to the area east of East 15th Street and Air Depot at approximately 9:30 PM.

What happened?

Edmond police spokesperson Emily Ward said authorities received multiple reports of shots being fired at about 9 p.m. at a gathering of young people near Arcadia Lake. She said late Sunday that no arrests had been made and that there was no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.

“We’re kind of all over the metro speaking with victims and witnesses,” Ward said. The scene drew a significant emergency services presence, with witnesses reporting multiple ambulances departing the area in quick succession.

No ongoing threat to the public

Witnesses reported seeing two men flee the scene. The suspects remained at large, but Ward said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Arcadia Lake, located about 13 miles north of Oklahoma City, is a man-made reservoir used for flood control and is also a popular recreational area offering fishing, boating, picnicking and camping. It is located in Edmond, an Oklahoma City suburb with a population of about 100,000.
